Middletown, MD
Middletown Valley is in Western Frederick County, Md. It is a valley which lies between the Catoctin Mountain range, Braddock and South Mountains. Middletown Valley is said to have been described by a young George Washington as “one of the most beautiful places”. It was founded in 1767.
Middletown Md. had been an important passageway from DC northward during the 18th Century including the railway in the late 1800s. A very notable feature of the town is the mix of architecture from Stately Federal style to Greek Revival in the center of town to Victorian Queen Anne, Gothic and Colonial revival.
Currently
Middletown, Md. has a population of over 4600 people. Middletown’s outlying agricultural community contributes traditional livestock and crops as well as local wines to the area economy. There are many places to enjoy when visiting Middletown including nearby hiking trails, unique restaurants, and quaint boutiques.
