- West Virginia: Jefferson and Berkeley Counties.

Hagerstown, MD History
The city of Hagerstown was founded in 1762 under the name Elizabethtown after founder Jonathan Hager’s wife Elizabeth. In 1813 the name was changed to Hager’s Town which was the more popular usage of that time.
Hagerstown is the County Seat of the surrounding Washington County.
Hagerstown is situated on a series of Limestone Ridges. Many of the distinctive buildings in town were quarried from these limestone ridges. Hagerstown, Md enjoys a hub of transportation opportunities, major highways North to South and East to West, Railroad traffic and an airport.
Like many of the surrounding areas, Hagerstown has a strong Historic significance going back to the Civil War. It figured prominently during the Gettysburg campaign.

The city of Hagerstown ranks as Maryland’s 6th largest incorporated city with a population of 40,306. It has a bustling business district which hosts a range of businesses. From unique businesses to a busy outlet mall and Amish market.
Many area attractions are enjoyed by hikers, rafters, canoers, shoppers, bikers and more. Neighboring battlefields, parks and parkland allow a wide range of recreational enjoyment.
