Odors and Allergens

Many things cause odors and allergens in your home. We generally differentiate between odors and scents, both refer to things we “smell”. Odors refer to smells which we find objectionable while scents we find pleasurable. Both; however, can be contaminants.

There are odors that are organic and inorganic, biologic and chemical. These odors and allergens come from molecules which become airborne and allow us to interact with them.
Allergens can cause significant health issues especially if you have allergies.

What Causes Odors and Allergens?

Pet Dander

Biologic or chemical allergens and odors are caused by:

  • Pets and Pet Dander.
  • Insects and insect residue.
  • Dust and dust mites.
  • Plants.
  • Food.
  • Bacteria and viruses.
  • Mold and mold spores.

Chemical odors and allergens are most often caused by:

  • Carpet and carpet fibers.Aerosols
  • Furniture and wood finishes.
  • Aerosols including air fresheners.
  • Drywall and paint.
  • Shampoos, cleaners, detergents.
  • Perfume, colognes.
  • Cosmetics, nail polish.

What are Harmful About Odors and Allergens?

Skin Rash

Sometimes exposure to certain odors and allergens can cause us to develop an allergy. Certain allergies can become severe health issues. Allergens can cause skins rashes, inflammation, breathing issues, asthma, headaches, etc.

Allergens are a large concern for those of us with allergies, young children and the elderly. Improving your indoor air quality will ensure that you limit your exposure to odors and allergens. Once these odors and allergens are in your air, they are easily redistributed throughout your home through your ventilation system. Air filters will help trap some impurities, depending on your specific air filters.

How to Get Rid of Odors and Allergens?

Good ventilation is natures way of ridding ourselves of unwanted impurities and contaminants. Some plants can be helpful by absorbing certain contaminants and emitting oxygen.

Keeping surfaces in your home and pets clean can also help. Good, clean HEPA Air Filters can help filter out a significant number of allergens and debris.

Got Flu Reme Halo

For those at risk of health issues it is wise to consider a home Air Purification system. Types of air purifiers are portable units and whole home systems. Whole home purification systems remove far more impurities than portable units.

Mold Spores

There is also evolving technology which can almost eliminate the contaminants. The Reme- Halo device cleans your air naturally using Ionized Hydroperoxide oxidation technology. Refer to the Detailed Article here.
The Reme- Halo System utilizes proprietary Reflective Electro Magnetic Energy technology. This device is installed into your duct system by your HVAC professional. It works invisibly and thoroughly to actively purify your air. Dual ionizers reduce airborne particulates (dust, dander, pollen, mold spores).

In Conclusion

It is always a good idea to remove odors and allergens from the air in your home. Cleaner air will provide a safer, more heathy and enjoyable environment.
