Energy Star Program

Energy Star is a voluntary Energy Efficiency program. The Energy Star program was created by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is now managed by the EPA and DOE (Department of Energy).

Products are certified Energy Star which meet or exceed high energy efficiency standards. These products are listed on their Energy Star Website and always carry the Energy Star Labeling.

Energy Efficiency

HVAC Energy Efficiency not only helps the environment, it also helps lower your energy costs. Energy efficient HVAC equipment will help save energy costs throughout the year.

HVAC equipment is ranked by their SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). The greater the measured efficiency, the higher the SEER rating. Actual efficiency can vary depending on how the equipment is used. Much like mpg for your car which may be rated to get 30mpg. Your actual mpg achieved might be less. Just as aggressive acceleration can cause more gas usage, how your system is set to operate can also cause higher energy usage. Changing temperatures, changing settings can all affect the actual usage.

High rated SEER systems can equate to long term energy savings for you and lower energy bills. There are programs through the Potomac Edison and sometimes even manufacturers to offer rebates for the installation of higher SEER systems.

New Systems

Consider high SEER rated HVAC systems which are more energy efficient, better for the environment and save you money on energy costs.
